Hi All Does anyone have a competency for giving subcutaneous meds, we have a baby requiring deltaparin for at least six weeks twice a day, Infant is only 900 grams and the girls are nervous about this. does anyone have a competency ?

Hi Sarah,

We don't have a competency but I think one is in progress. We restrict ours to QIS nurses only, as we had a baby develop an enormous heamatoma from repeated deltaparin injections

Thanks sarah, I was wondering if this was something that we could suggest be added to the new skills book that the PDN forum are currently developing.?
I will bring it up at the PDN group meeting.
